Kasimos
Visual Artist
I was born in the Greek city of Thessaloniki, where I still live and work. From a very young age, I was fascinated with the art world. But it wasn’t until the tender age of fourteen that I started to create at a more sophisticated level. That which started as a path-finding endeavor, fueled by my admiration for art, quickly became an existential necessity.
Style &
inspiration
From lyricism and serenity, to the beauty of the grotesque.
The illustrations of Alan Lee and the drawings of David Hockney inspired me to first start painting. Later, as I honed my skills, I discovered the work of Francisco Goya and Hilma af Klint. Their work led me to a more esoteric and dreamlike approach. The most pivotal roles in my creations, though, were certainly played by Francis Bacon and Amalia Zoglopitou. Both of them capture the anguish of the human soul in their paintings in the truest of ways. All the artists above vary in style, but in my opinion, they all share a common characteristic: the ability to communicate their passions in the most honest way possible.
This amalgamation of completely different techniques has allowed me to explore a more spherical approach to the fruition of my artistic goal. I wish to establish a dialogue between artwork and viewer that transcends the aesthetic norms of society and generates pure emotion. My older work portrays this very feeling through the use of more "positively" associated themes and color palettes. In contrast to my latest work, which evokes dystopian emotions of alienation and challenges the viewer to search for the primordial truth inside him.

Exploring the world
In 2016, I participated in the Exhibition of First Appeared Artists in Thessaloniki. In 2019, I decided to explore another great passion of mine, which was interior design. I studied interior design at the 14th Vocational High School of Thessaloniki, from which I graduated. I have created pieces for many private collectors, both locally and abroad. In 2020, I participated in an exhibition and an art auction in Milan.
My journey
Materials mater
I consider myself familiar enough with most mediums. When I first started to paint, I used ink, dry and oil pastels, and watercolors. Quickly after that, I moved on to acrylics, natural pigments, and oils, which offer greater flexibility and convey depth in a better way. With my interior design background, I have designed and created various functional art objects. Such as chandeliers and occasional tables, using materials like epoxy resin, concrete, wood, polyurethane foam, glass, and recycled materials.
Self taught and loving it!
Throughout the years, I have searched for a form of education that would align with my artistic expectations. Unable to find the educational style I was looking for, I decided to remain self-taught. A decision that I do not regret at all and that has enabled me to view the art world from a unique perspective.
